The Story Behind Alana Mireille Apparel

Alana Mireille is not just the name of an apparel company -- it is the name of the beautiful little girl diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of four who inspired her mother to creatively improve the lives of other little girls with diabetes.

Supporting children who have& nbsp;diabetes is a key factor for us. Therefore, a percentage of the profit will be dontated to both the JDRF and The Diabetes Association knowing that one day we will be closer to finding a cure for this disease.

We have also created a girl's T-Shirt that we will donate a percentage of each shirt sold to both JDRF and The Diabetes Association. Giving back to the groups that have helped us and continues to help us is extremely important to Alana-Mireille Apparel, Inc.

Alana's Story.

Our daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on December 8, 2004 at the age of four.  After gaining confidence in our ability to care for her needs, we decided to use an insulin pump to manage her diabetes.  It was obvious to us that we made the right choice; both her numbers and her daily life changed for the better.  The only issue was fashion!  Our daughter is like any other little girl; she wants to wear cute, fun, fashionable dresses, but most of her clothing didn’t have a place for her pump and she didn’t want to wear a belt 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It was then we made our first dress with a pocket specifically made for insulin pumps.  You place the pump in the pocket underneath the dress to hold it, but you access it through the side pocket.  This keeps the tubing and the pump from coming out and it is extremely easy to access the pump from the side pocket.  All pockets have Velcro so they stay shut.  There are two pockets on both sides of the dresses so it can be placed in either pocket based on where the site is located.

We are extremely proud of these dresses and wanted to share with you our program.  We want to make as many little girls as happy as we can and we also want to give back to the communities that have helped us so much over the past two years.  We are going to donate a percentage of our profits to both the JDRF and the Diabetes Association to help find a cure.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Sincerely,

Mireille Nicoletti (Mother of Alana-Mireille)
